Sandy Angus is Chairman of Angus Montgomery, a privately owned 124-year-old family business, active in running trade and consumer events on 5 continents.  Angus Montgomery Art specializes in events in the contemporary art market.

With more than 50 years’ experience in the event and exhibition industry, Sandy Angus has worked extensively in the contemporary arts sector since the 1980s.  He has co-founded and invested in a wide range of regional art fairs, more recently focusing on the Asia-Pacific region.

In 1982 Angus launched the London Art Fair at Olympia (which still runs at the Business Design Centre, Islington), followed by an international contemporary art fair in Los Angeles in 1984.  With his extensive knowledge and connections across the contemporary art sector, Angus has provided in-depth consultancy to a wide range of clients across the industry.

Continuing to seek out new art markets, Angus co-founded Art Hong Kong in 2007, which was later taken over by Art Basel.  He has since gone on to launch and invest in a number of other art fairs including India Art Fair (2011), ArtInternational, Istanbul (2013), ART13-16 (2013-16), PHOTOFAIRS | Shanghai (2014), Art Central Hong Kong (2015), Sydney Contemporary (2017), Taipei Dangdai and Art SG (both 2019).

Sandy Angus has served as the President of the Union of International Fairs (UFI), Chairman of the UK Association of Exhibition Organisers and is a recent Chairman of the National Association of Exhibition Management of the USA.  Angus has been recognised with a Lifetime Achievement award from the AEO, the Pinnacle Award from IAEE, Medal d’Or from UFI and the Hall of Leaders from the Convention Industry Council.
